We are seeking an experienced EO/IR Camera Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead to lead development of advanced infrared and visible imaging products. This cross-functional leadership role requires expertise in imaging sensors, ROICs, focal plane arrays, camera systems, firmware/software, program execution, and customer engagement.
The role requires a strong understanding of Readout Integrated Circuits (ROICs), focal plane arrays, detector technologies, EO/IR camera systems, product characterization, and system-level performance optimization. The Product Engineer will serve as a primary technical interface between customers, suppliers, and internal engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities • Lead development of next-generation infrared and visible camera products from concept through production. • Define product architecture, system requirements, performance objectives, and technical roadmaps. • Lead multidisciplinary teams across ROIC design, detector/FPA engineering, camera electronics, FPGA/firmware, software/image processing, test, and manufacturing. • Provide hands-on technical expertise in one or more of these areas. • Translate customer application requirements into product specifications. • Lead technical reviews, risk management, configuration control, verification planning, and engineering design activities. • Develop system-level performance budgets covering sensitivity, dynamic range, noise, latency, frame rate, power, and environmental performance. • Lead integration, characterization, and validation of advanced FPAs and complete camera systems. • Develop and oversee laboratory test plans for ROICs, detector hybrids, FPAs, and camera products. • Analyze imaging performance and optimize hardware, firmware, and algorithms. • Coordinate technical activities with detector manufacturers, semiconductor foundries, packaging suppliers, optics vendors, and manufacturing partners. • Support proposals, customer presentations, technical reviews, and business development. • Execute programs to meet technical, schedule, cost, and quality objectives while managing risks. • Maintain strong technical relationships with customers, suppliers, and strategic partners.

Required Qualifications • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering, or related discipline. • At least 5 years of experience developing infrared, visible, or multispectral imaging products. • Hands-on experience testing and characterizing advanced infrared and visible FPAs. • Experience developing infrared and/or visible camera systems. • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Desired Qualifications • Strong understanding of ROIC and FPA architectures. • Knowledge of detector technologies such as CMOS, CCD, InGaAs, HgCdTe (MCT), InSb, SLS, or similar sensors. • Understanding of imaging performance metrics including noise, dynamic range, sensitivity, quantum efficiency, frame rate, signal-to-noise ratio, fixed-pattern noise, and non-uniformity correction (NUC). • Experience with laboratory testing, calibration, and imaging-system validation. • Excellent communication, organizational, and technical leadership skills.

Success Metrics: The ideal candidate is an innovative engineering leader with experience developing advanced EO/IR imaging systems for aerospace, defense, commercial, or scientific applications.
Program Execution • Deliver product milestones with ≥90% on-time performance. • Meet project cost and schedule objectives. • Successfully complete design and gate reviews.

Technical Performance • Meet or exceed customer performance specifications. • Successfully integrate hardware, FPGA, firmware, and software. • Achieve image quality, frame rate, latency, power, and reliability targets.

Product Quality • Achieve high first-pass hardware success with minimal redesign. • Minimize engineering changes after design release. • Successfully complete environmental and qualification testing. • Achieve strong manufacturing yield at product launch.

Customer Satisfaction • Maintain positive customer feedback and technical reviews. • Resolve technical issues promptly. • Successfully complete demonstrations and product deliveries.

Leadership • Effectively coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams. • Promote employee engagement and technical development. • Mentor engineering staff and continuously improve engineering processes and documentation.
