CNC Programmer III

Sigma Design is a product development, engineering, and manufacturing firm. Position Details:
  • The hiring range for this role is typically between $40.00 and $51.00 an hour, with the full range extending to $62.00 an hour, based on experience, internal equity, and career progression
  • This position will be In-Office
  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Primary Function:
The CNC Programmer III leads programming for high-value jobs, develops advanced CNC programs, and drives programming standards and process improvements across the organization.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
  • Expert in advanced CNC programming methods, including 3- axis, 4-axis, and 5- axis machining, verification and custom code development
  • Works across multiple software platforms (Mastercam, hyperMILL, etc.)
  • Analyzes complex engineering drawings and develops sophisticated CNC programs for high-value jobs
  • Deep knowledge of materials, tooling, GD&T, and advanced machining strategies
  • Supports quoting and planning phases with technical input and expertise
  • Provides comprehensive DFM (Design for Manufacturing) feedback to stakeholders
  • Drives programming standards, process improvements, and CAM innovation
  • Standardizes programming approaches across parts and platforms
  • Coaches and develops programmers and machinists
  • Inspects complex parts using advanced precision measuring techniques
  • Operates and optimizes machines for maximum efficiency and quality
  • Leads problem-solving for complex manufacturing challenges
  • Follows all safe work practices & safety rules and ensures team compliance
  • Drives recommendations for process modifications to improve productivity and quality
  • Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
  • Expert proficiency programming complex 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC milling operations
  • Career-level programmer with expert knowledge of advanced CNC methods
  • Expert proficiency in multiple CAM software platforms (Mastercam, hyperMILL, etc.) 
  • Advanced understanding of GD&T, materials science, and machining strategies
  • Proven leadership and coaching abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills
  • Outstanding teamwork/interpersonal skills with ability to influence stakeholders
  • Pass a post-offer background verification
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Sigma Design Core Values

Work Environment:
Standard machine shop environment with various types of machinery. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
