Position Overview
Nationwide IT Services is seeking a Multimedia Audio Visual Technician to join a contract working with the federal government in support of an important mission. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a great team while supporting our clients at the US Department of Transportation in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Acting as the primary Multimedia Technician, provide clients with on-site A/V support services in the form of conference room technical support, equipment troubleshooting and equipment operational training for approximately 30 new campus wide rooms of varying sizes and capabilities. All rooms are newly built using the latest Crestron, Poly and IP devices with central management capabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support of ceremonies and town hall style events with live streaming, event recording and all aspects of video production, both pre- and post-production and output for various mediums including broadcast and digital, social, web, etc.; using various digital photography equipment and cameras.
  • Additional duties are responding to client inquiries by phone and email to gather event requirements, tracking work order assignment to ensure work is performed on time and closed out successfully within job order tracking system and report generation of work performed.
  • Provides audio/visual and collaborative technologies support to clients, responding to telephone calls, emails, and personnel requests for technical support throughout the campus.
  • Records, prioritizes, and tracks all assigned help calls and documents work efforts in a ticketing system.
  • Diagnoses problems both over the phone, in discussions with customers and performing in person diagnostics.
  • Simulates or recreates technical issues to resolve operating difficulties.
  • Properly escalates issues to other teams and works to resolve more complex problems with supervisory guidance.
  • Identifies, researches, documents, and resolves incidents.
  • Performs troubleshooting of A/V devices, room control systems, microphones, projectors, audio units, and other related equipment in conference rooms and special event environments in the auditorium.
  • Assesses damage to or loss of equipment, keeping the supervisor informed of same.
  • Performs A/V equipment set-ups and strikes in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that equipment is correctly configured and operates properly for the event.
  • Supports live and pre-recorded productions for special event webcasts in a variety of locations throughout the campus.
  • Assists clients in the best use of A/V technology to deliver presentations.
  • Provides basic instruction/training for employees and executive management staff on the use of A/V equipment and resources as applicable.
  • Updates internal support documentation and contributes to the development of client help documentation.
  • Participates in the installation, maintenance, and storage of equipment.
  • Updates and maintains equipment inventory.
  • Perform weekly conference room equipment checks to ensure all equipment is operational and ready for usage by the user community.
  • Maintenance including bulb replacements, battery replacements, cleaning and maintenance of A/V equipment.
  • Reports to supervisor to arrange the timely ordering of necessary A/V consumable supplies.
  • Provides feedback on the replacement of equipment and upgrades, where applicable.
  • Performs testing and quality assurance on presentation computer systems, A/V systems, and virtual conferencing software.
  • Actively keeps abreast of A/V technologies and practices.


Job Qualifications:

  • Proficient using Crestron, Polycom, Shure.
  • Proven technical experience in digital media and/or audio-visual production.
  • Capture and edit visual content, both video and photography.
  • Video Production and postproduction experience with solid knowledge of software, Adobe Creative Suite products, Photoshop, Premiere, Camtasia etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as the desired applicant will interact with employees and executive management personnel.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities to meet production deadlines.
  • Must be highly motivated, creative, positive in approach and able to work well alone and as part of a team.
  • Problem solving and trouble-shooting skills; creative thinking.
  • PC & Networking proficient (must already know your way around a computer)
  • Ability to set up, break down, and move video production gear.
  • Must have the ability to sit, stand, stoop and bend for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work at heights, climb a ladder, lift to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds across campus, utilizing AV carts and equipment movers.


Additional Skills:

  • Unified communications using Microsoft Teams Rooms and Crestron touch screens.
  • Certified Technology Specialist (CTS).
  • Section 508-Compliant captioning requirements
  • Video Wall components and display troubleshooting.
