Job Description:

The Senior Director, Head of Care Pathway Optimization is responsible for establishing and leading a new strategic capability for Ipsen, focused on accelerating patient identification, reducing diagnostic delays, and optimizing care pathways across the U.S. rare disease portfolio. As the inaugural leader of this function, this individual will define the vision, strategy, operating model, and success measures for how Ipsen partners with healthcare systems to improve the patient journey from identification through diagnosis and treatment initiation.

The role will lead a high-performing team and oversee the development of innovative partnerships and scalable solutions internally and externally with HCP groups, Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), academic medical centers, provider organizations, and health systems. Working across the organization, this leader will help shape how Ipsen both leverages data and engage with institutional stakeholders to advance disease awareness, enhance referral and treatment pathways, and improve patient outcomes while creating sustainable competitive advantage for the portfolio.

As a member of the Business Operations & Strategy (BOS) Leadership Team, this individual will set the long-term strategic direction for Care Pathway Optimization and establish it as a core commercial capability for the organization. The role will identify new opportunities, influence enterprise priorities and investments, and develop strategic partnerships that create shared value for health systems, providers, patients, and Ipsen.  Success requires a highly collaborative and entrepreneurial leader with deep expertise in data, health system dynamics, patient journey optimization, institutional engagement, and change leadership, as well as the ability to build organizational alignment and drive transformational outcomes across a complex matrix environment.

WHAT - Main Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead the enterprise strategy for diagnosis acceleration and care pathway optimization across the U.S. portfolio.
  • Define the vision, operating model, priorities, and success measures for Ipsen's Care Pathway Optimization function.
  • Create and lead Ipsen's Care Pathway Optimization function, establishing the team structure, attracting and developing top talent, and building a scalable organization positioned to meet evolving business needs and support long-term portfolio growth.
  • Identify barriers throughout the patient journey, including diagnosis, referral & treatment initiation, to develop solutions to address them.
  • Partner with data team to leverage analytics, real-world evidence, health system data, and customer insights to inform strategic decisions and care pathway initiatives.
  • Develop and lead the team responsible for engaging with key external stakeholders at institutions to identify and execute partnership opportunities to improve patient care pathways by developing solutions that support improved diagnosis.
  • Lead the development and execution of innovative programs that accelerate diagnosis and optimize care pathways for patients with rare diseases.
  • Serve as Ipsen's senior commercial leader and subject matter expert on health system engagement, care delivery transformation, and patient journey optimization.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Commercial, Marketing, Value & Access, Business Operations, Medical Affairs, Patient Services, Legal, and Business Ethics to shape and execute enterprise strategies that accelerate diagnosis and improve patient care pathways.
  • Ensure care pathway strategies are incorporated into portfolio planning, launch readiness, and long-term commercial strategy.
  • Influence organizational priorities and investment decisions through data-driven recommendations, business cases, and executive communications.
  • Foster an enterprise mindset through effective resource allocation, budget stewardship, and continuous improvement of organizational capabilities.
  • Ensure all initiatives are executed in accordance with legal, regulatory, compliance, and business ethics requirements.

HOW - Knowledge & Experience

Knowledge & Experience (essential):

  • Minimum 15+ years of Pharma/Biotech/Medical Devices with extensive industry experience in health systems
  • Minimum 5+ years of prior experience in effectively leading teams critical demonstrated experience driving care pathway optimization, patient journey initiatives, and institutional engagement strategies.
  • Deep understanding of health system operations, care delivery models, provider economics, and organized customer strategy.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare data (claims, SP/SD. etc.)
  • Expertise in developing and executing strategic partnerships with IDNs/ provider groups
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and effectively anticipate customer needs
  • Strong understanding of patient journey and healthcare data
  • Specialty therapeutics experience preferred

Education / Certifications (essential):

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced Degree preferred (MBA, MPH, MS, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent)

Language(s):

  • Fluent in English.

Compensation

The annual base salary range for this position is $217,500 to $315,000

The pay range displayed above is the range of base pay compensation within which Ipsen expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting. Individual compensation within this range depends on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge and demonstrated skills.
