The Electrician Apprentice will perform any duties associated with the Fabrication Shop process on an as-needed basis. This position will learn the basics of fabrication, welding, conduit installation/bending, pulling wire and painting. 

This career requires knowledge and basic understanding of small mobile equipment such as forklifts, skid-steers, and man lifts, effective communication both written and verbal.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the set-up and clean-up of all functions performed in the Fabrication Shop.
  • Assist the Fabrication Shop electrical team as needed with basic installation/maintenance of EMR electrical systems such as 24VDC control systems, 120VAC circuits, as well as industrial 480VAC, EMR’s fire suppression system.
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools and mobile equipment as necessary.
  • Monitors equipment for appropriate usage and wear.
  • Monitors work environment for hazards and maintains healthy ventilation levels to avoid particle or gas inhalation.
  • Follows safety protocol, including wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

I.               Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED-equivalent.
  • Previous welding, fabrication, electrical is a plus.
  • Experience using electrical or manual tools such as saws, squares, calipers, etc.

Other Job Demands 

While performing the essential functions of this job, the Fabrication Shop Apprentice will be working in an outdoor environment. The employee may be near moving mechanical parts and will be exposed to all weather conditions. The noise level in the environment can be loud and will require ear protection. The employee is required to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time. This job also requires frequent bending, kneeling, and standing, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working in confined spaces.
