The Training Assistant is responsible for collectively working with the Training Specialist and Training Director on the coordination and execution of the C.O.P.S. Traumas of Law Enforcement Trainings, C.O.P.S. National Conference on Law Enforcement Wellness and Trauma, and any additional trainings the department is preparing, and assisting the Executive Director with conference related preparations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process registrations for trainings/conferences in database, ensure accurate records and pull reports.Â
- Update training/conference packet materials and print.Â
- Assemble training/conference packets for each location.Â
- Travel to trainings/conferences and assist with the details as planned.Â
- Answer phone calls and questions about C.O.P.S. trainings.Â
- Organize and put away supplies after each training/conference has concluded.Â
- Collect, organize and maintain files and documents, both paper and electronic.Â
- Communicate, verbal and written, with law enforcement, presenters, counselors, survivors and volunteers as needed.Â
- Public speaking at trainings/conferences to help keep the event moving and flowing as planned, if needed.
- Assist with the planning of trainings/conferences as needed.Â
- Coordinate conference registration and travel for Executive Director and other staff.
- Assist Executive Director with materials for conference presentations.
- Other administrative tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Shall receive a monthly cell phone stipend of $30.00 to offset the cost of using a personal device for a minimal amount of work purposes, such as time management, two-factor authentication, communication between staff at events, or other uses as deemed necessary by supervisors.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collectively work with the Training Director and Specialist to plan the details and logistics for the selected training locations (schedule dates, locations, facilities, meeting space, volunteers, etc.).
- Apply for and secure continuing education units for each training/conference location when applicable.
- Provide confirmation details and continued correspondence to training/conference attendees.
- Create and develop training/conference logistics and communicate to presenters and volunteers.
- Update registration and check-in software for each training/conference.
- Compile feedback and suggestions each year to be reviewed and considered for the success of future trainings/conferences.
- Prepare and pack supplies for each training/conference. This is a team effort.
- Make phone calls to agencies and chapters to drive interests for trainings. This is a team effort.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES:
- Occasional out of town travel to C.O.P.S. trainings/conferences and other functions as planned.Â
- Assist other Departments on large group projects when needed.Â
- Other duties as assigned.Â

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
High school diploma required. Prefer a minimum of one (1) year of event planning and two (2) years of office experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google platform and Windows. Prefer a basic understanding of police departments and law enforcement officers and agencies.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Computer Literacy: General knowledge of computers and software is necessary, including word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and database.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact at the executive level.
RESIDENCE REQUIREMENTS: This is an in-person position, located at the National C.O.P.S. office in Camdenton, Missouri and a successful applicant must currently reside near or be willing to relocate to within a daily driving distance from the office.
