About the Role:

The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner working with our Hand and Upper Extremity team of Orthopedic Surgeons) plays a critical role in delivering specialized care to our patients.

The SOS Hand & Wrist Center is led by board certified, fellowship trained, and award winning orthopedic hand specialists, wrist doctors and arm specialists who maintain a standard of excellence in care that can only be achieved through their extraordinary talent and dedication.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the United States.
  • Certification from an accredited PA or NP program with national board certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specialty certification in orthopedics.
  • Advanced certifications such as ACLS or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations.
  • Order, interpret, and integrate diagnostic tests such as imaging and laboratory results to inform clinical decision-making.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management, physical therapy referrals, and patient education.
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative care to ensure optimal recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, physical therapists, and pain management specialists to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and institutional policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with advances in spine care through continuing education.
