Applied Systems Engineering, Inc. (ASE) seeks to hire a Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Applications Engineer, based out of Bay Area (Campbell, CA) reporting to DER Operations Team Lead. This position is accountable for all customer projects for ASE’s DER Gateways, DER Aggregator and DER Control products. This position is also accountable for understanding customer requirements, project co-ordination, engineering and commissioning support. The position is an Individual contributor role, involving co-ordination with Product Management, Project Delivery and Engineering teams.

JOB PROFILE:

The incumbent of this position will be responsible for the following:

  • Project co-ordination for DER Gateway, Controller and DER Aggregator projects for Utility Interconnection
  • Project engineering and configuration for DER Gateways and Controllers
  • Application engineering to help customers better understand the project requirements and Utility requirements.
  • Product testing, validation and telemetry pre-testing in ASE Labs and at customer sites.
  • Site commissioning and Utility SCADA testing support for Interconnection Customers
CANDIDATE PROFILE:

The ideal candidate should have.

  • Should have 3+ years in DER / Renewable Industry though we are willing to consider fresh undergraduate electrical engineers for this role.
  • Engineering and Site commissioning experience with PV and/or BESS projects.
  • Experience with Inverters, Gateways, Energy Storage, Power Control System or Energy Management system.
  • Experience with Utility Communication or Automation, working on areas like Automation / Telecom / Utility Communication / SCADA / RTU / Gateway / Test Sets / Protection Relay Protocol Experience will be an added plus.
  • Experience with DER / IEEE 1547 Protocols like DNP3, SunSpec Modbus and IEEE 2030.5 using RS232 / 485 or Ethernet or Cellular communication would be a plus. Basic understanding of communication protocols / Wireshark and traffic analysis is required.
  • Good written and oral English communication and customer management skills.
  • Should be self-driven and should be able to independently coordinate with Customer and managing the projects.
  • Associate degree or higher
