HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

Pay Range 40 to 60 per hour depending on experience.



DACO Construction is looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic who takes pride in keeping equipment running and crews productive. We operate a growing fleet of excavators, loaders, skid steers, trucks, smaller gas tools and specialty underground utility equipment across the Bay Area. We are looking for someone who can diagnose problems quickly, make solid repairs, and keep our equipment dependable in the field.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy construction equipment used in underground utility installation, grading, and paving operations. Work will be performed in our shop and in the field.


Key Responsibilities

Maintain and repair heavy construction equipment including excavators, loaders, skid steers, rollers, graders, dump trucks, small gas engine tools and service trucks

Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, gas engine and mechanical issues.

Perform preventative maintenance including oil services, filters, inspections, and adjustments.

Respond to equipment issues quickly to minimize jobsite downtime.

Perform field service repairs when necessary.

Maintain accurate equipment service records.

Communicate with foremen and managers regarding equipment condition and repair priorities.

Keep shop and work areas clean, organized, and safe.

Requirements

 

Qualifications

Minimum 3 to 5 years experience working on heavy construction equipment.

Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Experience working with Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Volvo, or similar equipment.

Ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs independently.

Valid California driver license required.

CDL is a plus but not required.

Welding and fabrication skills are a strong plus.

Ability to work in shop and outdoor jobsite environments.
