HOSPICE CHAPLAIN/SPIRITUAL CARE & VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

(Buncombe & Haywood)

Job Summary:

  • Experience and competence in therapeutic methods of working with individuals, groups, and families in crisis, preferably in counseling in death, dying and grief.
  • Ability to be open, flexible and ecumenical.
  • Ability to work with IDT as a member as well as the ability to work autonomously.
  • Knowledge of rituals and needs of multiple spiritual groups.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in spiritual and cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to articulate a theology of spiritual care that is integrated with a theory of pastoral practice.
  • Ability to incorporate a working knowledge of psychological, sociological and religious beliefs and practices in the provision of pastoral care.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of ethics appropriate to the pastoral context.
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate within a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Requires employee has own reliable transportation.
  • Requires knowledge of computer skills and the ability to learn Microsoft Word, Excel and use of company approved documentation program.

Job Requirements:

  • Requires a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university in religion, human services, theology, and philosophy and/or be ordained, commissioned or similarly recognized by an appropriate religious authority according to the standard practice and policy of that authority.
  • Master’s in Divinity is preferred
  • Have an appropriately accredited degree in theological studies or its equivalent.
  • Have competencies for chaplaincy, CPE Units preferred.
