Here is how the Facilities Engineer role will impact our business:

The Facilities Engineer II/III/Senior/Expert plays a key role in optimizing the performance, safety, and reliability of our natural gas gathering, compression, processing, and transportation infrastructure. This position involves leading and supporting engineering design and project execution across midstream assets, with an emphasis on compression, dehydration, and metering infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to grow within a dynamic team through mentorship and hands-on experience with midstream operations.
 


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering efforts for the design, modification, and optimization of midstream natural gas infrastructure including compressor stations, dehydration systems, and metering facilities.
  • Provide technical expertise on gas compression, and processing systems, including facility layout, equipment sizing, and specification.
  • Develop and review engineering designs, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams (PFDs) in compliance with company standards and regulatory codes (DOT, PHMSA, ASME, API, etc.).
  • Generate and evaluate project scopes, cost estimates and project schedules for new installations, expansions, and facility upgrades.
  • Support construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting of midstream facilities in collaboration with Operations, Construction, and EHS teams.
  • Create operational documentation and provide technical training to field and operations personnel.
  • Maintain consistency and compliance in midstream engineering practices with federal and state regulations and company procedures.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure timely and effective project execution.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering (or a related engineering field).
  • Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience, preferably in midstream or natural gas systems.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Understanding of gas pipeline design, compression, dehydration, and metering systems.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, PHMSA, NACE, DOT).
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and process engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proactive, results-driven mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% and work a flexible schedule including weekends/holidays as needed.

 
Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with natural gas gathering and processing projects.
  • Familiarity with engineering and simulation tools such as: Ariel Performance, ProMax, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, and SCADA systems.
  • Project management experience including cost tracking, scheduling, and contractor oversight.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.

 

Work Location:

This role will combine field work, remote work, and office work within EQT's operating area.
