The Apprentice Structured Cabling Installer works under the observation of the Lead Installer, building basic skills and gaining additional experience and responsibilities through hands-on training. Assists with project site installation and service of Category 6, Category 6A, fiber optic cabling and other low voltage system technology infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Installing field devices (modular jacks, plates, terminal blocks, patch panels, racks, cable management, etc.)
- Troubleshooting systems and electronics
- Assist in pulling low voltage cable and various wiring
- Installing cable in new and retrofit commercial construction environments
- Installing support structures (ladders, racks, j-hooks)
- Additional duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
- One year of electrical experience preferred
- Basic electrical and mechanical skills
- Familiar with electrical schematics and blueprints
- Comfortable with electrical testing equipment
- Ability to take direction and follow all safety protocols
- Must have reliable transportation as travel is required
