CNR Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our growing MSP team in Woodstock, Georgia.

This is a hybrid, hands-on engineering position supporting small and mid-sized businesses across a variety of industries. Candidates must live within reasonable commuting distance of Woodstock, Georgia, and be available for regular onsite work at client locations throughout North Georgia and the Atlanta metro area.

This is not a fully remote position. Candidates located in Woodstock, Acworth, Canton, Kennesaw, Marietta, Holly Springs, or surrounding North Georgia communities are preferred.

As a small MSP, no two days are exactly the same. Our engineers work across multiple client environments and technologies. One day may involve resolving an end-user issue or assisting another engineer with an escalation, while the next may involve server infrastructure, networking, Microsoft 365, cybersecurity, or an implementation project.

We are looking for an experienced engineer who can work independently, take ownership of technical issues, and serve as an escalation resource for lower-tier engineers. This person should be comfortable balancing escalations, their own support tickets, projects, onsite work, and changing priorities while maintaining strong communication with both clients and the CNR team.

Responsibilities

  •  Troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of technical issues across workstations, servers, networks, cloud services, Microsoft 365, and client infrastructure.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for lower-tier engineers, taking ownership of issues requiring more advanced troubleshooting or experience.
  •  Work collaboratively with lower-tier engineers to troubleshoot escalated issues and provide technical guidance when appropriate.
  •  Take ownership of escalated issues through resolution or recognize when additional senior-level escalation is appropriate.
  •  Provide both remote and onsite technical support to CNR clients.
  •  Perform onsite troubleshooting, installations, deployments, network work, and infrastructure projects.
  •  Provide remote technical guidance to engineers performing onsite work when additional assistance is required.
  •  Support Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, RDS, and related technologies.
  •  Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Entra ID/Azure AD, SharePoint, and related Microsoft services.
  •  Troubleshoot network environments involving switches, wireless networks, VLANs, routing, VPNs, and firewalls.
  •  Support firewall and networking platforms such as Fortinet, UniFi, Sophos, SonicWall, and pfSense.
  •  Participate in server, network, cloud, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365, and other infrastructure implementations and projects.
  •  Manage assigned tickets and projects while monitoring priorities, deadlines, and estimated labor.
  •  Proactively communicate potential delays, scope changes, technical concerns, or escalation needs to the appropriate team members.
  •  Maintain thorough and accurate ticket notes, documentation, configurations, and client information.
  •  Communicate professionally and responsively with clients regarding issue status, expectations, project progress, and resolution.
  •  Coordinate with vendors and third-party providers to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions.
  •  Participate in the general support queue as needed. This is a hands-on MSP environment, and all engineers assist with support needs regardless of issue complexity.
  •  Adapt quickly between different client environments, technologies, business requirements, and priorities.
  •  Participate in scheduled after-hours project work or emergency support as needed. Additional compensation applies.
Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on professional IT experience, preferably within an MSP or multi-client IT environment.
  •  Strong ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve Tier 1 through Tier 3 technical issues.
  •  Demonstrated ability to handle technical escalations from less-experienced engineers.
  •  Strong Windows workstation and Windows Server experience.
  •  Advanced working knowledge of:
    •  Active Directory
    •  Group Policy
    •  DNS
    •  DHCP
    •  Remote Desktop Services
  •  Experience administering and troubleshooting Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Entra ID/Azure AD, and SharePoint.
  •  Strong networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, wireless networking, VPNs, and firewalls.
  •  Experience supporting firewall platforms such as Fortinet, UniFi, Sophos, SonicWall, or pfSense.
  •  Experience with RMM platforms, endpoint security, backup solutions, and remote-support tools.
  •  Experience supporting Microsoft Azure and/or AWS environments.
  •  Ability to guide lower-tier engineers through troubleshooting and help develop their technical abilities.
  •  Strong judgment regarding issue ownership, escalation, prioritization, and client impact.
  •  Ability to manage multiple tickets, projects, escalations, and client environments simultaneously.
  •  Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  •  Strong documentation, organization, accountability, and follow-through.
  •  Comfortable working directly with clients remotely and onsite.
  •  Comfortable working in a fast-paced MSP environment where priorities may shift throughout the day.
  •  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while remaining communicative and accountable to the team.
