 I. University Overview

Malone strives to provide an education that produces graduates with a love of truth and a vibrant, mature faith. Our intent is that students attain the wisdom, knowledge, and skills necessary to serve, engage, and transform the communities in which they live and work. To this end, we provide the curricular and co-curricular context in which to pursue the following educational goals: Understand and critically engage those bodies of knowledge and cultural influences that have shaped the world; Understand the biblical, historical, and theological foundations of the Christian faith; Think critically and creatively and communicate effectively in multiple contexts; Attain expertise in at least one profession or academic discipline and lay the foundation for meaningful work or further studies at the graduate level; and explore the implications of the Christian faith for all areas of living, including intellectual, spiritual, and community pursuits.


II. University Expectations

III. Job Summary

  • Under the direction of the Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the Program Director of the Master’s of Social Work Program, the Graduate Assistant provides support and works collaboratively with the Program Director, faculty, and the Administrative Assistant.


 IV. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • These are some examples of the duties and responsibilities, but this is not an exhaustive list.
  • Perform office and clerical duties
  • Research and search for information needed to assist with various Master’s of Social Work 
  • Program projects and events 
  • Assist with CSWE accreditation tasks and responsibilities
  • Communicate with faculty (both full-time core faculty and adjunct faculty) and students
  • Maintain and update MaloneXpress resources for students
  • Adhere to confidentiality policies and principles at all times
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean and/or Program Director


V. Qualifications:

  • Be enrolled as a degree-seeking graduate program at Malone University
  • Maintain status as a graduate student each semester, including the summer Semester
  • Maintain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average for all graduate coursework
  • Demonstrate excellent, professional interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Value working as part of a team and able to work independently as well
  • Be in alignment with Malone University’s mission, foundational principles, Doctrinal Statements


VI. Remuneration and Work Hours:

  • Tuition remission for graduate program – up to 9 credit hours per academic year
  • 10 hours of work per week, 40 weeks, August 11th through May 31st, 2027
  • Available to work between 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on campus or any time remotely, Monday through Friday


VII. Termination/Resignation:

  • The Graduate Assistant’s performance will be reviewed at the end of each semester. The contract period is for a duration of one academic year. The contract period of one year is renewable for the second year pending satisfactory evaluations.
  • Malone University has the right to terminate if the needs of the institution change or if the financial resources are such that it is deemed necessary.
  • Malone University has the right to terminate for cause, unsatisfactory work performance and/or academic performance.
  • If the Graduate Assistant elects to resign, the expectation is that the resignation will coincide with the end of an academic year. At such time, tuition remission will cease. If the Graduate
  • Assistant selects to remain a student in the graduate program, financial responsibility for tuition will revert to the Graduate Assistant for the remaining program of study.
