Get to Know Your Team: 

  • BSA provides 24-hour paramedic care through our ambulance service, which responds to emergencies in Canyon and 825 square miles of Randall County. BSA EMS staffs two stations 24/7/365, one in northern Randall County and one in Canyon.

Responsibilities

An EMTBasic (EMTB) in Texas provides outofhospital emergency medical care, stabilization, and safe transport for patients experiencing medical emergencies or injuries. EMTBs operate under medical oversight and within protocols approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). 


Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • High School (or GED equivalent) diploma.

  • Certification or licensure as an EMT-Basic by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

  • Successful completion of a DSHS-approved EMT-B course and passing of the National Registry exam.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

  • Valid minimum Class C Texas Driver's License with restriction “A” permissible.

  • Completion of the following Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency.

  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800.A is required within 80 days of employment.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS).

  • Field experience.
