Port Security Safeguard Contractor

Overview

We are seeking licensed independent security professionals to provide port security and crew safeguarding services on an as-needed basis at designated locations in Tampa, FL.

This is an independent contractor (1099) opportunity. Contractors determine their own availability and are engaged to provide security-related services for specific assignments. Nothing in this description shall be construed as creating an employer-employee relationship.

Scope of Services

Contractors may be engaged to perform services that include:

• Providing security and safeguard services for vessel crews and port-related activities.
• Coordinating and facilitating crew movements between terminals, airports, hotels, U.S. Customs facilities, immigration offices, and other authorized locations.
• Verifying that required crew documentation is available for arrivals and departures.
• Observing and reporting security, safety, or access-control concerns to the appropriate parties.
• Maintaining professional interactions with vessel representatives, port personnel, government agencies, and crew members.
• Providing status updates and service documentation as requested for completed assignments.

The specific scope of each assignment may vary based on client and vessel requirements.

Contractor Qualifications

To be considered, contractors should possess:

• Valid Florida Class D Security License.
• Valid driver's license.
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Clean and insurable driving record.
• Reliable transportation.
• Automobile insurance meeting applicable state requirements.
• One (1) year or more of security-related experience.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Previous maritime, port, vessel, or marine agency experience preferred but not required.
• Port credential/card preferred.

Physical Requirements

Contractors should be capable of performing services that may require:

• Frequent walking and standing.
• Boarding vessels via gangways and access points.
• Climbing, bending, stooping, and navigating restricted-access areas.
• Lifting or carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Traveling between ports, vessels, terminals, airports, hotels, and related facilities.

Work Environment

Assignments may be performed in marine terminals, vessel environments, ports, transportation hubs, offices, and outdoor locations. Contractors may encounter varying weather conditions, vessel movement, elevated noise levels, and other conditions common to maritime operations.
