Automation Engineer (Warsaw, 70% on-site, 30% remote) – Frontex

Profile: Automation Engineer (VMware, Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Linux Red Hat, Programming languages) - Level Standard.

Place of performance: On-site service provision at Frontex Headquarters in Warsaw (Poland) – 70% intramuros + 30% extramuros (remote).

Duration of the mission: 48 months.

Security Clearance: Is required (required from day 45 of assignment) - RESTREINT UE/EU RESTRICTED.

Travel: Not foreseen.

Minimum level of education: Level 6.

Minimum English language skills: B2.

Minimum IT relevant experience: 5 years (2 years in similar positions).

Award Criteria: 30% Price / 60% Quality.

Minimum required scoring for interview: 60%.

Rate: Flexible. The rate offered depends on the candidate’s level, in accordance with the European public grading system. Further details are available upon discussion.

· NWH: 220 days x 4 years.

· EWH: 6 days x 4 years.

Required technical certificates: Not strictly required. All certifications related to the activities listed below will be considered advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge

· [01] Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell or Bash.

· [02] Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible.

· [03] Experience with Infrastructure automatization tools such as Terraform or VMware ARIA Automation.

· [04] Strong knowledge of virtualization platforms (such as VMware vSphere) and Cloud platforms (such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud).

· [05] Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux Red Hat configuration and automatization.

· [06] Experience in collaborating with multiple support groups.

· [07] Experience with ticketing systems and ITIL based change management, configuration management and release management processes.

Skills:

· [08] Good organizational and prioritising skills.

· [09] A proactive attitude, team-work spirit, being self-motivated with a strong user orientation.

· [10] Good communication skills.

· [11] Able to cope with fast changing technologies.

Typical tasks and responsibilities

· Designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems and tools to support various IT operations, including infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, deployment, and incident response (products including VMware, Azure/AWS/Google Cloud, Windows Server and Linux Red Hat).

· Analysing existing IT processes and workflows, identifying areas for improvement, proposing and developing automation strategies to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance scalability.

· Writing scripts and developing code using programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate routine tasks, data processing, and system integration.

· Utilizing configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible) and infrastructure-As-code (IaC) frameworks (e.g., Terraform, VMware ARIA Automation) to automate the provisioning, configuration, and management of IT infrastructure components.

· Recommending and implementing IT best practices.

· Implementing changes according to ICT change management procedures.

· Providing 2nd line support to other IT teams and coordinating with 3rd line of support.

· Updating the technical documentation and operating procedures.

· Evaluating and implementing IT security standards.

· Participation in coordination and project meetings.

· Other specific duties aligned to profile as assigned by supervisor.
