Position Overview
The Lead Bartender is responsible for delivering exceptional beverage experiences across Terras, the Lounge, Pool Bar, and in-room dining through leadership, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of CIVANA’s wellness-driven philosophy. This role supports bar operations, maintains beverage integrity, assists with training, and ensures consistency in service, product quality, and guest engagement. The Lead Bartender exemplifies CIVANA values and sets the tone for a welcoming, mindful, and elevated guest experience.
Guest Experience & Service
• Deliver warm, intuitive, and knowledgeable service that reflects CIVANA’s wellness culture.
• Create memorable moments by engaging with guests, offering recommendations, and personalizing experiences.
• Ensure timely service standards across all bars, maintaining high levels of hospitality even during peak periods.
• Uphold Experience First by anticipating guest needs and removing friction points before they arise.
Beverage Preparation & Execution
• Expertly craft cocktails, zero-proof beverages, wellness-focused elixirs, coffees, and teas with precision and consistency.
• Ensure recipes, builds, glassware, and garnishes are followed precisely for all menu items.
• Maintain deep knowledge of wine, beer, spirits, and wellness-oriented beverages unique to CIVANA.
• Support menu development and seasonal updates by providing feedback on flavor profiles, cost, and guest preferences.
Leadership & Team Support
• Serve as the on-shift leader for bartenders and barbacks, providing direction, coaching, and support.
• Train new team members on beverage standards, recipes, POS, guest engagement, and service flow.
• Support leadership in fostering a positive, inclusive, and resilient team culture.
• Assist in daily shift huddles and communicate updates, product changes, and service priorities.
Operational Excellence
• Oversee cleanliness, organization, and readiness of all bar areas.
• Ensure pars are maintained for beverages, garnishes, glassware, and supplies.
• Support management by completing monthly inventory counts, weekly ordering and maintaining order guides and inventory sheets with updated product and pricing.
• Monitor and minimize comps, voids, waste, and over-pouring.
• Verify correct ringing procedures, ensuring accuracy in Micros and alignment with accounting expectations.
Compliance & Safety
• Enforce responsible alcohol service, ensuring compliance with AZ liquor laws and CIVANA policies.
• Support adherence to all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
• Ensure bar team members maintain proper certifications (e.g., Title 4, Food Handler’s Card).
Qualifications
• 3+ years bartending experience in elevated or resort environments.
• Strong knowledge of mixology, wine, spirits, wellness beverages, and zero-proof cocktail development.
• Experience leading or training teams preferred.
• Ability to remain calm, organized, and positive under pressure—Brilliantly Resilient.
• Strong communication skills—Open & Honest with team members and leaders.
• Ability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Must hold required Food Handler and Title 4 certifications.
