Location: Caribou
Position Status:  Full-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

Pay Range: $18.00 – $28.00 per hour 

The compensation range listed above represents the good-faith range Pines Health Services anticipates relying upon when making an offer for this position. Starting pay is determined based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and market conditions. 


Position Summary:

Pines has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Medical Assistant to join our growing podiatry practice. In this role, you will work directly alongside our Podiatrist to care for patients experiencing foot, ankle, and lower leg problems. You will balance clinical duties, specialized foot care support, and administrative tasks to ensure high-quality patient care and smooth daily clinic operations.


Essential Functions:

  1. Ability to communicate verbally in a professional manner with patients, providers, and staff.
  2. Ability to follow directions from physician or mid-level provider.
  3. Ability to record patient data in electronic medical record for providers (i.e., vital signs, vision tests, histories, etc.).
  4. Providing patient education on medications as needed.
  5. Assists physician during minor in-office surgeries, including ingrown toenail removals.
  6. Cleans wounds, changes bandages, and applies casts, splints, or dressings.Prepares (including stocking medical supplies as needed) and cleans exam rooms for provider/patient needs.
  7. Assists with diabetic wound care and routine foot health monitoring.
  8. Help trim problematic toenails under direct medical supervision. 
  9. Assist in casting and fitting patients for custom orthotics, braces, and therapeutic footwear.
  10. Completes proper sterilization of all office instruments and equipment as necessary.
  11. Assesses all clinical calls with provider to determine acuity.
  12. Maintains smooth flow in daily schedule between providers and patients.
  13. Maintains electronic medical record, reads and adds dictation to records, and scans lab results.
  14. Upon provider orders, relays patient prescriptions to the pharmacist, follow-up orders, and test-result notifications.
  15. Responsible for obtaining and preparing electronic medical record for provider to review and document.


Additional Functions:

  1. May need to cover for other office at all Health Centers; cross-training may be required.
  2. Fax, copy, or mail medical information as needed or required, as instructed by the provider.
  3. Keeps assigned drug room organized and stocked with current medications.
  4. Assists with daily scanning, filing, and answering telephones in the reception area if coverage is needed.
  5. Greets drug representatives and obtains necessary drug samples and data.
  6. Ability to perform breath alcohol tests and urine drug screen collections, ensuring correct labs utilized, as needed for patient care.


Requirements

Availability Requirements:

Monday through Friday; hours may vary based on patient care needs.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  1. Maintain Medical Assistant Certification or obtain upon eligibility.
  2. Maintain current BLS through the American Heart Association.

Certification: CMA, RMA, or other third-party accreditation for Medical Assisting, preferred.
