Maine Veterans’ Homes is seeking a Residential Care Director (RN) to provide leadership and oversight for our residential care operations. Position Summary
The Residential Care Director (RN) is responsible for the overall operation of the residential care unit, including assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating individualized resident service plans. This role ensures residents receive the necessary care and services to support their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and professional standards.
This position directly supervises residential care staff and works closely with organizational leadership, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure exceptional outcomes.Â
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to residential care staffÂ
- Hire, train, coach, and develop team members to promote professional growthÂ
- Complete performance evaluations and support employee recognition initiativesÂ
- Create a culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and quality careÂ
- Supervise staff (RN Supervisor, CRMA, PSS)
Resident Care & Clinical Oversight
- Oversee delivery of high-quality resident care and servicesÂ
- Develop and evaluate individualized resident service plansÂ
- Monitor resident needs and coordinate appropriate interventionsÂ
- Ensure residents receive personal care, medications, nutrition, and services in a safe environmentÂ
- Collaborate with physicians, families, social services, and interdisciplinary team membersÂ
- Participate in admissions, discharge planning, and resident care coordination  Â
Compliance & Quality Management
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, VA regulations, and Maine Veterans’ Homes policiesÂ
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and resident recordsÂ
- Oversee required documentation, including MDS assessments, resident status reports, and progress notesÂ
- Complete quality audits related to medications, treatments, and resident care practicesÂ
- Promote continuous improvement in resident outcomes and care delivery Â
Qualifications
Required:
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of MaineÂ
- Demonstrated leadership and administrative experienceÂ
- Strong knowledge of residential care practices and applicable regulationsÂ
- Ability to organize, direct, and coordinate nursing and healthcare teams Â
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)Â
- Five or more years of clinical nursing experienceÂ
- Long-term care experience preferredÂ
- Experience in geriatrics, dementia care, and residential care settingsÂ
- Experience leading interdisciplinary teams and developing care plans Â
