The Electrical Engineer will be responsible and provide support for the specification, design, implementation, installation, commissioning, startup, and close-out of small-to-large scale capital expenditure projects independently or in conjunction with Central Engineering resources. This position will also provide engineering expertise to assist plant-level Maintenance, Production/Operations, EH&S, and Management personnel in identifying and solving technical process issues. Technical assistance will require understanding of plant power distribution systems and process and machinery control systems. A practical level of understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles are to be applied to assigned project work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Capital and major maintenance project management that includes scope development, funding requests, budget tracking, schedule tracking and project execution.
- Coordinate day-to-day activities of contractors and plant maintenance personnel during project execution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing process equipment and control systems.
- Provide training and technical assistance to plant-level Maintenance, Production/Operations, EH&S, and management personnel to ensure all project goals are successfully attained.
- Design using the latest hardware and software components, design machine control systems to maximize equipment productivity and assure all code requirements and safety standards are strictly met.
- Maintains and continuously improves plant process control systems, plant production network, and data collection.
- Accomplishes annual plant major maintenance and capital projectsÂ
- Monitors and maintains plant power
- Prepares for the annual major maintenance and capital projects for the following
- Supports the SAP maintenance work order system – using the data base to help evaluate equipment break downs and root cause analysis.
- 60% office – project development and tasks, reports, projects updates, team meetings/calls
- 40% production floor – project support, equipment installation, commissioning, startups, troubleshooting, programming/testing (PPE applies)
Education and Experience
- Degree preferred in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline
- Minimum of five years of experience in a controls or electrical engineering capacity
- Experience with Allen Bradley, PLC, and programming
