New Village Arts is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and collaborative Sound Engineer to support the audio needs of our productions, events, and rentals.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys live performance, understands the importance of clean and consistent audio, and can work calmly and effectively in a fast-paced production environment. In live theatre and event settings, sound engineers typically set up and operate microphones, speakers, consoles, playback systems, and related equipment, while monitoring audio quality and troubleshooting issues in real time.

What you'll do:

  • Set up, test, operate, and strike sound equipment for rehearsals, performances, events, and rentals
  • Prepare and maintain microphones, speakers, monitors, consoles, playback systems, and audio cabling
  • Run sound checks and make audio adjustments as needed
  • Operate sound systems during live performances and events
  • Monitor audio quality and troubleshoot issues quickly and professionally
  • Help maintain organized, safe, and functional sound workspaces and equipment storage
  • Work closely with the Technical Manager, sound designers, stage management, and other production staff

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience with live sound, theatre sound, event audio, or similar technical work
  • Understands basic audio equipment, signal flow, and sound system operation
  • Can stay focused and responsive in a live performance environment
  • Is reliable, punctual, and collaborative
  • Is available to work evenings, weekends, and other hours based on production schedules
  • Brings strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and professionalism
