Mervin Manufacturing home of Lib Tech, GNU and Bent Metal is a leading designer and manufacturer of snowboarding, skiing, surfing and skateboarding products built at the world’s most environMENTAL factory by people who ride them. Mervin Manufacturing was founded by snowboarders Mike Olson and Pete Saari in 1977. In an industry where virtually every other snowboard, ski, skateboard, and surfboard company has moved production to China or offshore, Mervin is the longest running and last major board building factory in the USA. Based out of Carlsborg, Washington, between the rugged Olympic and Cascade Mountain Ranges, Mervin is a direct link between riding and manufacturing.  

  

Job Purpose:  

Edging and preparation of snowboard bases and cores.  

  

Duties and responsibilities:    

  • Measure, cut, anneal, punch, sandblast and bend steel.  
  • Use of hand tools to fit and glue steel to base.   
  • Use of jig to edge ski and split bases.   
  • Match side sticks and core profiles and cut sticks to length.   
  • Glue side sticks and tip/tail material to core profiles.  
  • Place binding inserts into designated areas on core.  
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area.   
  • Wear assigned and applicable personal protective equipment (PPE).   
  • Work safely.   
  • Other duties may be assigned.   

 

Qualifications:    

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.  
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.  
  • Adaptable to minor alterations in daily expectations.  
  • Able to read and do simple arithmetic   
  • Good communication skills.  
  • Will be working with hands 100% of the time. Strong eye-hand coordination a plus.  
  • Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.  
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player   

  

Physical requirements:     

  • Required to regularly stand and walk  
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms   
  • Occasionally required to climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell  
  • Regularly required to assist and lift up to 65 pounds.  
  • Frequently required to assist and lift up to 50 pounds.  
  • Vision requirements include close vision and distance vision

Position Hours are Monday - Thursday 3:30pm to 2:00am

Pay Range: $18.30 to $21.05 per hour PLUS an additional $1.50/hr shift differential

Starting rate is $18.30/hr with a $1.10/hr increase once fully trained and meeting quality and quota expectations. The position is based on a tiered pay scale with increased knowledge and abilities for each tier associated with an increase in wage.
