Job Summary

Performs daily physical and routine general labor activities such as chip spinning by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operating a forklift or pallet jack.
  • Load and unload materials, parts, or products onto or from pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks.
  • Reclaims cutting and lubricating oils from chip spinning equipment by placing chips into centrifugal separator that removes metal chips and dirt from oil and drains clean oil from separator into containers.
  • Removes metal chips and shavings from surfaces of chip spinning machines and wipes surfaces of machines to remove excess oil.
  • Separates dissimilar materials and places them into their specified containers.
  • Accurately weighs and records processed metal chips and shavings.
  • Understands and observes all necessary safety procedures: safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, gloves, lifting guidelines, interlocks, etc. as designated in specific work area assigned.
  • Relies on specific instructions and pre-existing guidelines to perform functions of the job.
  • Completes all necessary and required paperwork as relates to the job. (i.e., tags).
  • Maintains good housekeeping in assigned work area.
  • Additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by department supervisor.

Requires Skills & Attributes

  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor as needed.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to recognize and sort materials.
  • Ability to operate machinery.
  • Strong work ethic: Willing to work OT to meet tight deadlines as needed.

 

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Previous general labor experience in a shop environment preferred.
  • Experience operating a forklift/pallet jack.

 

Physical Job Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand and reach the duration of shift, 8-10 hours.
  • Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend.
  • Frequently required to perform repetitive or short-cycles work.
  • Regularly lift, push, or pull up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Understands and observes all necessary safety procedures: safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, machine interlocks, lifting guidelines, etc. as designated in specific work area assigned.
