Job Title:        Forging Operator

 

Summary - NTA Precision Axle Corporation is looking for a first shift forging operator. This position will help ensure the safe production of quality parts by forging and trimming of automotive hub bearings as part of a press team.

Starting Wage:        $21.00

We offer a 2nd shift differential of $2.00 per hour & 3rd shift differential of $3.00 per hour

 

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.  At ANBM, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 

  • Works in a two to three person team to forge and trim parts for use in automobile hub bearing units.
  • Operates and adjusts forge press according to guidelines and in a safe manner.
  • Adjusts die and tooling sets.
  • Accurately completes quality and production control documents.
  • Uses gauges to accurately measure and verify proper part dimensions.
  • Communicates abnormalities on all production operations to Supervisor.
  • Follows all PPE rules and company policies.
  • Practices 5S in work area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent required.
  • Experience in manufacturing and or mechanically inclined.
  • Knowledge of basic machine operation / controls.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks
  • Ability to operate line equipment
  • Ability to recognize quality issues.
  • Able to create, follow and document written plans.
  • Proficient at basic shop mathematics.

Work Environment 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate. bump cap, steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection are required in the Forging Department.

 

Physical Demands 

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; hazards common to industrial settings; chemicals, vibration, and loud noises.
    • Safety shoes, safety glasses, chemical resistant gloves and bump caps for this position must be worn on the production floor. Other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
    • Jobs on the production floor require a minimum 40-hour workweek. Overtime may be required.
    • The pace of work is steady and fast.
    • Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
    • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
    • This position requires sufficient vision to see details at close range, so the person can pass an inspection test of finished parts and components.
