ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assesses hog body composition in finishing sites to project sales of pigs according to marketing requirements.
  • Identifies and marks hogs to be moved or sold to the appropriate destination.
  • Delivers load movement paperwork to necessary farm sites in a timely fashion.
  • Communicates regularly with supervisor and production about group performance and provides data through written reports and email correspondence.
  • Counts inventory and number of pigs scheduled for sale as needed.
  • Assists other team members to effectively meet department and company goals.

Required:

  • A clear and valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record (MVR) required.

  • Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school preferred; minimum 1+ years’ swine production experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds, and sometimes push and/or move up to 300 pounds.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is commonly exposed to airborne particles and gases at low concentrations.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to waste material, hog and feed dust.
  • The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.
