Diocese of Sioux City Kuemper Catholic School Position Description Job Title: Learning Center Paraeducator FLSA Status: Exempt Department: Resource/Learning Center Hours /Week: Varies (Up to 40 hours per week during the school year) Reports to: Grade PS-6 or 7-12 Principal Revised: July 2026 Consults with: Grade PS-6 or 7-12 Assistant Principal and Building Learning Center Teacher Primary Purpose: To fulfill the mission of Kuemper Catholic School by assisting in the implementation of educational programs and accommodations for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), 504 plans, and others requiring additional academic or behavioral support. Under the guidance and supervision of the Learning Center teacher, the paraeducator provides instructional, behavioral, and organizational support to help students achieve success in both general education and specialized learning environments while fostering independence within a faith-centered community. Essential Functions: 1. Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of Kuemper Catholic School. 2. Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church. 3. Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese. 4. Abides by the Confidentiality Policy set forth in the Diocesan Employee Handbook. 5. Provides instructional support to students individually and in small groups under the direction of the Learning Center teacher. 6. Assists students with the implementation of accommodations and modifications outlined in their IEPs or 504 Plans. 7. Supports students in both the general education classroom and Learning Center through push-in and pull-out instructional models. 8. Reinforces academic concepts and instructional strategies introduced by the classroom teacher or Learning Center teacher. 9. Assists students with organization, task completion, study skills, self-advocacy, and executive functioning skills. 10. Monitors student engagement, behavior, and progress, communicating observations to the Learning Center teacher and classroom teachers. 11. Assists with classroom management and supervision to promote a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment. 12. Helps prepare instructional materials, organize learning resources, and maintain an orderly Learning Center environment. 13. Encourages student independence while providing appropriate levels of support based on individual student needs. 14. Maintains accurate records and documentation as directed by the Learning Center teacher.Â
