Western Timberlands has an opening for a Region Manager in the Lower Columbia region.  This position is based out of Longview, Washington, and reports to the VP of Western Timberlands as a member of the Western Timberlands lead team.  The Lower Columbia region is comprised of three area teams (St. Helens, Cathlamet and NW Oregon) that currently manage over 750,000 acres of prime timberlands.  The current regional reporting structure includes 10 direct core team members, 40 indirect salaried staff on area teams, and 22 hourly union represented employees.  This key leadership role is responsible for establishing and executing strategic operating plans and deliverables for the region in alignment with the Company’s values and direction.    

Key Functions: 

  • As the geographic business leader for the region, responsibilities include: ensuring alignment to WTL strategy across the region, general oversight of all operational activities and delivering business results; managing all financial aspects of the region; maintaining a culture that is consistent with our WY vision; effective communication across all levels of the organization; establishing and maintaining efficient processes as necessary.  

     

  • Champion of our values, our vision, mission and regional roadmaps including safety, environmental stewardship, business ethics, operational excellence, inclusion, innovation, customer value and people development.  

     

  • Set clear expectations, manage measurable and time bound goal setting, provide continuous feedback by communicating affirmation of progress and concerns early, and resolve issues.   

     

  • Collaborate by partnering with leadership across organizational/functional boundaries to optimize the entire supply chain, drive operational excellence, and replicate best practices. 

     

  • Represent the region on the Western Timberlands Lead Team that includes representatives from other regions and functional teams (e.g., planning, marketing, logistics).  Work as a transparent, inclusive, collaborative, and accountable team member on the Western Timberlands Lead Team.  

     



  • BS in Forestry, Business or related degree AND a minimum 8 years related business leadership experience. 

     

  • Successfully utilize advanced leadership skills to engage a diverse organization, drive continuous improvement, develop people, and create a great place to work.  

     

  • Get results through effective collaboration and utilization of resources across the business, region, and outside stakeholders. 

     

  • Strong business acumen, including the use of key financial and business metrics to identify opportunities and drive results. 

     

  • Excellent communication and relationship skills; proven ability to build, support and guide change initiatives with and through others. 

     

     

What We Offer: 

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $157,562-$236,484 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 25%25 of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our contribution equal to 5%25 of your eligible pay. 

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours and paid parental leave for all full-time employees.
