Medical Assistant - Float

Position Summary

Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of medical and clinical support functions in an outpatient clinical setting, such as providing initial patient triage, registration, and administrative services. Works directly with the provider by performing clinical preparation, routine patient care, and front-office duties. Core responsibilities include measuring vital signs, recording medical histories, and updating electronic health records. This position will float among all of our rural health clinics in Carrollton, Greenfield, and Roodhouse, depending on support needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and strict confidentiality of patient information in electronic and/or manual systems as established by the appropriate protocols, regulations, and policies.
• Obtain patient medical history, vital signs, chart preparation, medication dosage and frequency, patient allergens, and assist with medical examinations. 
• Maintains stocks of medicines and medical supplies as necessary, routinely checks for expired meds and supplies.
• Provides instructions and directions to patients regarding diagnostic tests, procedures and treatments.
• May refill non-opioid medications if approved by provider. 
• Make phone calls to patients, pharmacies, or outside provider offices, as necessary. 
• Assist with registration, referrals, or other administrative duties.
• Provides clinical and administrative support at any of Boyd’s Rural Health Clinics.

Requirements

Required Qualifications – Education/Licensure/Certification

• High school diploma required.
• Medical Assistant Certificate or currently enrolled in a Medical Assistant program OR at least 3 years of Medical Assistant      experience.

• Previous experience preferred but not required.
