The Physical Therapy Manager is responsible for providing high-quality physical therapy services while overseeing the daily operations of the PT Department. This position serves as a working manager, balancing direct patient care with leadership responsibilities including departmental operations, staffing, quality improvement, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and strategic planning. The manager promotes exceptional patient outcomes, employee engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, accreditation, and hospital standards. Salary Exempt Role: Full Time – Monday through Friday Physical Location: Carroll County Memorial Hospital 309 11th St. Carrollton, KY 41008 The Job You Will Perform: Clinical Responsibilities Evaluate patients and develop individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based practices. Provide skilled physical therapy interventions for inpatient, outpatient, swing bed, and other rehabilitation populations. Reassess patient progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate. Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the electronic medical record. Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment plans and home exercise programs. Collaborate with physicians, nursing, occupational therapy, case management, and other disciplines to coordinate patient care. Supervise Physical Therapist Assistant and rehabilitation support staff in accordance with state practice regulations. Participate in weekend, holiday, and on-call rotations as assigned. Management Responsibilities Direct and oversee daily operations of the PT Department. Schedule staff to ensure adequate patient coverage and efficient departmental operations. Monitor productivity, staffing levels, patient volumes, and operational performance. Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide coaching, mentoring, and corrective action when appropriate. Recruit, interview, onboard, and retain qualified rehabilitation staff. Foster employee engagement and professional development. Lead departmental meetings and communicate organizational initiatives. Develop departmental goals consistent with hospital strategic objectives. Ensure compliance with all hospital policies and procedures. Financial Responsibilities Develop and manage the departmental operating budget. Monitor labor expenses and productivity benchmarks. Review supply utilization and recommend cost-saving initiatives. Assist with capital equipment planning and purchasing recommendations. Analyze departmental financial performance and implement improvement strategies. Quality and Regulatory Responsibilities Ensure compliance with: CMS Conditions of Participation Critical Access Hospital regulations State licensing requirements Medicare and Medicaid documentation standards HIPAA regulations Infection Prevention standards OSHA requirements Hospital accreditation standards Monitor departmental quality indicators. Participate in Performance Improvement initiatives. Assist with survey readiness activities. Implement corrective action plans as needed. Leadership Responsibilities Promote a culture of patient-centered care. Encourage teamwork across departments. Resolve employee concerns and workflow issues. Participate in hospital committees as assigned. Serve as a clinical resource for rehabilitation staff. Support organizational change initiatives. Develop annual departmental objectives. Additional Responsibilities Maintain required licensure and continuing education. Participate in emergency preparedness activities. Assist with community outreach and wellness programs. Complete mandatory education and competency requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. The Qualifications, Skills and/or Knowledge You Bring: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program. Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred; Bachelor's or Master's degree accepted if licensed. Current Kentucky Physical Therapist License Current BLS Certification Minimum three years of clinical physical therapy experience. Experience in a Critical Access Hospital or rural healthcare setting. (preferred) Experience with outpatient, inpatient, and swing bed rehabilitation. (preferred) Strong clinical decision-making skills. Knowledge of rehabilitation regulations and reimbursement. Leadership and team-building abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Budget and financial management skills. Quality improvement methodologies. Time management and organizational skills. Electronic medical record proficiency. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities. Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care Physical Demands: The employee must regularly: Lift, transfer, and assist patients up to 50 pounds independently and greater than 50 pounds with assistance. Stand and walk for extended periods. Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach. Demonstrate manual dexterity and fine motor coordination. Push and pull therapy equipment.
