The Compounder  is responsible for the correct weighing, mixing and packaging of materials per formula sheets. This position will pick material, melt, filter, weight, mix, package, label and manage all inventory transactions for each production order assigned. 

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review the job order for compounding and packaging requirements.
  • Look-up QC approved stock on computer and retrieve required raw materials.
  • Checks materials for color odor and other characteristics, following formula instructions for the compound.
  • Identify any material shortages and notifies supervisor of missing raw materials needed to complete batch.
  • Communicate with Material Handlers to pull materials from warehouse stock.
  • Select and bring appropriate container to work area.
  • Label tank with appropriate labels.
  • Accurately pour raw materials per order specified weights using scales.
  • Involved in all areas of processing compounds: mixing, filtering, heating, sampling, and chilling.
  • Inspects exterior and interior of containers before filling and handling
  • Prepare sample of mixed ingredients for testing.
  • Packs out approved batches and label all finished product containers.
  • Clean pots/tanks and other equipment after use.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area, and adheres to safety regulations and procedures, understanding the hazards of handling the various chemicals.
  • Follow all safety rules/procedures and maintain an accident and on-the-job injury free record.
  • Compliance with all relevant GMP and SQF procedures and regulations.
  • Report problems to management.
  • Maintains housekeeping of assigned areas.
  • Perform other operations related tasks as assigned.

 

Qualifications


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Basic math and use of computers.
  • A minimum two years of production experience as a Compounder, Batcher, Order Filler, or Material Handler.
  • Experience in the Chemical or Flavor & Fragrance Industry preferred.

SKILLS and/or PHSYICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must be capable of physically standing, capable of lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs and moving full drums up to 55 gallons.
  • Computer usage skills, math for measurements, and record keeping organization skills.
  • Use of forklifts, hand trucks, drum dumpers, air mixers, scales and pumps.
  • Must be capable of standing, lifting and carrying average of 50lbs.
  • Basic Computer knowledge.
