Tufting Operator - NSP Samples - 2nd Shift

Position Overview

2nd shift Machine Operator – Level 3 

Position Objectives: 

To obtain a skilled tufting/yfeed(warping) machine operator that will learn to operate other machinery and other responsibilities within the process and must be able to successfully perform all requirements of the machine operator function in a specific time frame. 

 Responsibilities 

  • Utility – ability to operate back winder and stationary lift. Ability to pull and relocate yarn. 

  • Y Feed Operator – ability to break down yarn and load yarn onto a creel with different thread ups and blow yarn into a mobile x-creel. 

  • Yarn Processing – the ability to print orders and operate an air entangled and twister machine to use a single denier yarn to make yarn of different denier sizes. 

  • Machine Operator – the ability to set up and operate all gauge group tufting machines with the ability to burn in mobile creels and perform necessary crossed and twisted end checks and operating all gauge group tufting machines with the ability to identify and eliminate shift chop and troubleshooting roller thread-up and other additional requirements which consist of and not limited to retrieving setup sheets, running predictor, updating specs and transferring samples and troubleshoot complex thread-up problems. 

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED 

  • Preferably Tufting/Warping machine experience 

  • Operate Lift Trucks (squeeze/fork/pole).  

  • Flexibility with hours (shift coverage)/workload (multitasking) 

  • Serve on teams/committees as needed 

  • Assist in projects as needed 

  • Computer Aptitude 

  • Work assigned schedule 

  • Accept assignments that may require additional training 

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Must be able to travel between facilities 

  • Must be able to communicate with groups and individuals 

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, repetitiously lifting to 10+lbs and exposure to noise levels 

  • Attend seminars/classes 

  • Work in plant environment (heat, humidity, and cold) 

 

Preferred Skills 

Demonstrate full knowledge of and compliance with Company quality and good MFG practices policies and procedures.  Review and ensure appropriate knowledge of and adherence to SMS – “Safety/Environment, Quality and TPM.  Must be able to work 40 hours work week, plus OT during the week and work on weekends when needed.
