Ox Specialty Paper Mill is looking for a hands-on HR Generalist to support our 24/7 manufacturing operation in Carthage, NY. This is a full-time, on-site, salary-exempt role reporting to the General Manager with a dotted-line relationship to Ox Corp HR.
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable in a manufacturing environment, enjoys being visible and accessible to employees, and can confidently manage a wide range of HR responsibilities in a fast-paced setting.
What You’ll Do
You’ll serve as the primary HR resource for the mill, supporting both employees and leadership across all core HR functions. This includes recruiting and onboarding, employee and labor relations, payroll and attendance, benefits administration, and HR compliance.
You’ll also handle worker’s compensation, FMLA, workplace investigations, performance management, and disciplinary actions as needed, while working within a collective bargaining agreement.
A strong presence in the facility is essential—you’ll be in the mill daily, building relationships, answering questions, and supporting a safe and productive workplace. Occasional off-hours support may be required in a 24/7 operation.
What You Bring
- 3+ years of HR experience preferred
- Manufacturing and/or union environment experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of employment law (FMLA, workers’ comp, etc.)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems (ADP Workforce Now a plus)
- High level of discretion with confidential information
