DESCRIPTION:
Join Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Finance Data Scientist I and contribute to our mission to enable customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. In this role, you'll develop analytics models and generate valuable predictive business insights through the application of statistics, machine learning, and advanced mathematics. Working with cross-functional teams, you'll analyze complex datasets, develop innovative solutions, and contribute to data-driven decision-making that impacts global health outcomes.
As a valued member of our data sciences team, you'll explore structured and unstructured data, implement machine learning algorithms, and create effective visualizations that communicate insights from data. You'll have the opportunity to work with current technologies, including Generative AI, and contribute to projects that span laboratory, digital, and clinical trial services. This position offers a combination of technical challenge and business impact, with opportunities to collaborate with diverse teams across our organization.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree required, no prior experience required
• Preferred Fields of Study: Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field
• Strong proficiency in statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, and programming, particularly in Generative AI applications
• Expertise in Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
• Proficiency in exploratory data analysis techniques and data preprocessing
• Knowledge of modern data management systems including relational databases and various data stores
• Strong data engineering skills, including ETL processes and data pipeline development
• Experience with big data frameworks and cloud platforms (e.g., Databricks, AWS, Azure)
• Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a cross-functional environment
• Detail-oriented with strong focus on data quality and accuracy
• Experience with CRM systems and process improvement methodologies preferred
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work products
• Experience working in dynamic environments
