About the Role
The Logistics Agent plays a key role in the growth and daily operations of Cornerstone Trucking. In this position, you will generate new business, negotiate rates, and manage the full lifecycle of shipments while delivering exceptional service to our customers. You will serve as the central point of communication between customers, carriers, dispatch, and drivers. Success in this role requires persistence, strong attention to detail, and a goal-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect and secure new freight customers through cold calling, networking, and relationship building
- Negotiate rates with shippers and carriers to maximize profitability
- Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules with customers, dispatch, and drivers
- Track shipments in real time and provide proactive status updates to customers
- Maintain accurate records of loads, billing, rate confirmations, and customer interactions
- Quickly and professionally resolve delivery issues, delays, or exceptions
- Collaborate with the operations team to improve freight efficiency
- Consistently meet or exceed weekly and monthly sales and performance targets
Qualifications
- Previous experience in logistics, freight brokerage, or the trucking industry preferred (but not required)
- Strong sales and negotiation skills with a proven ability to build lasting client relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated, goal-driven, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree a plus
