EAD supports projects across industrial manufacturing facilities, including food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and parcel handling environments. This role offers the opportunity to work on projects of varying size and complexity in a fast-paced, multi-discipline, and practical engineering setting.

EAD is looking for a Staff Structural Engineer. The Staff Structural Engineer supports industrial and manufacturing projects by delivering safe, accurate, and buildable structural engineering solutions for new and existing facilities. This role is best suited for a structural engineering generalist who can work across a wide range of industrial building and support systems, coordinate well with other disciplines, and thrive in brownfield environments where field conditions matter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis, calculations, and design for industrial facilities and support systems
  • Develop practical solutions for structural modifications in existing brownfield environments
  • Use sound judgment in existing facilities where field conditions, undocumented changes, and constructability constraints require thoughtful evaluation and practical solutions.
  • Support design of a broad range of structural elements such as wall, floor, and roof systems, platforms, mezzanines, equipment supports, foundations, and related industrial structures
  • Conduct field investigations, verify existing conditions, and apply findings to design
  • Coordinate with mechanical, process, electrical, architectural (when required), civil (when required), and other project team members
  • Prepare clear engineering deliverables, including calculations, sketches, markups, specifications, and support for drawing development
  • Participate in design reviews, quality checks, and constructability discussions
  • Communicate proactively with project teams, clients, contractors, and vendors
  • Support construction and installation questions as needed
  • Contribute to a safe working environment and follow EAD standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Experience with structural analysis and applicable building codes
  • Experience with OSHA requirements
  • Experience working with multi-discipline project teams
  • Experience with producing clear and concise engineering drawings and sketches
  • Experience with simple architectural furnishes (IMP, Roof and Wall Penetrations, Floor Coatings)
  • Ability to produce clear, organized, and dependable engineering work
  • Working knowledge of design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis software
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to perform field work and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Ability to interpret and utilize CMAA crane design requirements, FAA airport pavement requirements, FDA food safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food, beverage, life sciences, or pharmaceutical environments
  • Experience supporting cGMP areas or equipment support structures
  • Experience in existing-facility renovation, retrofit, and field-driven design

Working Conditions

  • Office, plant, or client site environment*
  • Ability to sit and work at computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions
  • May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment*
  • Office, Commercial and/or Industrial setting with the potential of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals*
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.*
  • Periodic weekend, holiday or evening work as needed
  • Travel required

*EAD will provide training, administrative/engineering controls, and personal protective equipment as necessary.
