About the Role:Â
Provide full-time American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for a student across the entire school day, supporting access to academic instruction and school activities. You’ll work closely with teachers and staff to ensure the student can fully engage in classroom discussions, lessons, and peer interactions. This role requires strong real-time interpreting skills, preparation for complex academic content, and a collaborative, student-centered approach.Â

What You'll Do:Â
• Provide real-time ASL interpretation for all instructional periods and school-related activitiesÂ
• Interpret spoken language into ASL and ASL into spoken language to facilitate communicationÂ
• Support student access to upper-elementary academic content, including complex vocabulary and discussionsÂ
• Prepare for sessions by reviewing lesson plans, materials, and subject-specific terminologyÂ
• Collaborate with teachers, SPED staff, and related service providers to support student success and IEP goalsÂ
• Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and student engagement while maintaining professional boundariesÂ
• Support and interface with assistive technology, including FM systems, as neededÂ
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standardsÂ
What We're Looking For:Â
Must Have:Â
• RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification requiredÂ
• EIPA score of 3.5 or higher preferred/acceptedÂ
• AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance CardÂ
• Strong ASL fluency and ability to interpret in real-time academic settingsÂ
Preferred:Â
• Experience interpreting in school-based or educational settingsÂ
• Familiarity with IEP environments and collaboration with multidisciplinary teamsÂ
• Strong communication, organization, and adaptabilityÂ
