Hexcel is currently seeking a Press/Expander Operator Non ME for our Casa Grande, AZ, USA location.  Start rate:  $27.84 Per Hour during the New Hire Orientation Period – normally 90 calendar days, then increases to $30.02 Per Hour.   This position is on our “T1” 2x2x5x5 shift: Monday, Thursday, and Friday (Week 1) 7:00AM to 7:00PM; and Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Week 2) 7:00AM to 7:00PM.  Overtime is often required.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Performs operations at non-metallic press, shear, steec, and expand. Follows documented procedures to produce core with defined dimensions.  Assures that there is a continuous supply of aluminum loops for blocks.  Operates the tumbler to keep a constant supply of clean parts for framing blocks.  Follows instructions per routing to determine what each block requires and executes to the documentation. Reads and follows each routing and sends the material to the correct areas.
  • Checks blocks for visual defects and reports any problems to a supervisor or engineer as appropriate.
  • Calculates pressure required for blocks, measures distance between caul plate for load size, and sets cycle time.  Communicates this information to other shifts.
  • Shears blocks to assure that they are even.
  • Makes aluminum loops to apply on blocks.
  • Uses T-square and air wrench at expanding as required.
  • Applies steec to blocks.
  • Loops it out and puts steel rods through loops in steec.  Expands and frames blocks according to specifications.
  • Assists with experimental materials and press cycles.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience required preferably in manufacturing.  Previous Hexcel experience preferred.
  • Must be proficient in use of tape measure and ruler.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer data entry function required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
