Aspire Rural Health System is hiring a Coding Specialist. We’re looking for individuals with a positive attitude to join our dedicated team of healthcare professionals committed to delivering the highest quality of service to both our patients and employees.

Requirements: 

  • Completion of examination requirements for any of the following: Association for Rural & Community Health Professional Coding, Critical Access Hospital Coding and Billing Specialist, Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). National Health career Association (NHA) Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) American Academy Processional Coders (AAPC) as Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) or Certified Inpatient coded (CIC), Preferred credentials from AHIMA or AAPC. 
  • CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 coding experience preferred. New coders (hires) will be require to become certified within one year from date of hire. 
  • Working knowledge with computer applications preferred EPIC, coding software, 3M, (Solventum).
  • Ability to cope with typical stresses of health care environment, volume benchmarks and deadlines.


Responsibilities: The primary purpose of the position as a Coding Specialist is to assign Diagnostic, Quality, and procedure codes accurately and efficiently to each patient encounter, along with associated charges and modifiers. Review record for required documentation to support coding assignments and charges. Communicate and query healthcare providers and ancillary departments as needed to maintain accurate quality coding.
