Position Summary

We are seeking a highly capable and hands-on Electrical Engineering Manager to lead the electrical engineering function at our Castle Hayne, NC manufacturing plant. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and continuous improvement of all electrical systems, instrumentation, and control infrastructure across the plant.

The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience, deep technical expertise, and a proven track record in a manufacturing environment. This individual will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, supporting capital projects, and ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of electrical engineers, E&I technicians, and contractors
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability across the electrical function
  • Foster a culture of safety, reliability, and continuous improvement

Electrical Systems & Reliability

  • Oversee the design, maintenance, and reliability of all electrical distribution systems, motor controls, and instrumentation
  • Ensure maximum uptime and performance of plant electrical assets through effective preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues to minimize downtime

Process Control & Automation

  • Provide technical oversight for DCS, PLC, and control systems
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and process engineering to optimize control strategies and improve process efficiency
  • Support cybersecurity and system integrity for industrial control systems

Capital Projects & Engineering

  • Lead electrical scope for capital projects from concept through commissioning
  • Develop specifications, review designs, and ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Manage contractors and vendors to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget
  • Oversee electrical & process control systems procurement
  • Manage electrical and process control systems critical spare equipment inventory

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and applicable environmental and process safety regulations
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) programs including MOC, PHA participation, and incident investigations
  • Champion electrical safety programs including arc flash, lockout/tagout, and safe work practices
  • Support and maintain process control systems quality requirements to comply with ISO9002015

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement reliability and efficiency improvements across plant systems
  • Utilize data and KPIs to drive performance improvements and cost optimization
  • Support plant-wide initiatives aligned with operational and financial goals

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • 7–10 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Proven leadership experience managing technical teams
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, power distribution, and control systems (PLC/DCS)
  • Experience with applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, OSHA)

Preferred

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing or PSM-regulated environments
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with reliability engineering practices and asset management systems
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or JD Edwards
