POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is critical in fabricating and assembling structural components using MIG welding techniques, ensuring precision, durability, and compliance with engineering specifications.


RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Perform complex welding operations on structural steel and heavy components
  • Interpret detailed blueprints and welding symbols with minimal supervision
  • Perform quality checks using gauges, measuring tools, and NDT basics
  • Assist in training Level 1 welders and provide technical guidance
  • Troubleshoot welding issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards (AWS, ASME, etc.)
  • All other duties assigned.

REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings.
  • Familiarity with structural welding codes and standards (AWS D1.1 or equivalent).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and workplace safety practices.
  • AWS certification is a plus.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or welding certification preferred.
  • 2-4 years of MIG welding experience, preferably in a structural or heavy fabrication setting.
