POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is critical in fabricating and assembling structural components using MIG welding techniques, ensuring precision, durability, and compliance with engineering specifications.


RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Perform advanced welding techniques, including multi-process and positional welding (vertical, overhead)
  • Lead fabrication projects and coordinate workflow among welders
  • Conduct precision inspections and ensure compliance with strict tolerances
  • Mentor and train junior welders, ensuring skill development and safety awareness
  • Document weld quality, production metrics, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for welding standards and certifications
  • All other duties assigned.

REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings.
  • Familiarity with structural welding codes and standards (AWS D1.1 or equivalent).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and workplace safety practices.
  • AWS certification is a plus.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or welding certification preferred.
  • 6+ years of MIG welding experience, preferably in a structural or heavy fabrication setting.
