Job Title: Molding Technician 2nd Shift

Essential Functions

  1. Possesses working knowledge of hand tools and machinery.
  2. Operates presses and auxiliary equipment.
  3. Performs set-ups of silk screening, pad printing, heat staking, milling, sonic welding, press brake, rivet machines, etc.
  4. Verifies calibrated torque on guns per work instructions.
  5. Performs initial start-ups for sample and production runs.
  6. Maintains machinery and tooling to maximize efficiency and product quality.
  7. Troubleshoots equipment and machinery for production issues.
  8. Optimizes processes to achieve product quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
  9. Participates in and supports cost reduction initiatives.
  10. Reads and follows ISO procedures; completes daily set-up logs.
  11. Maintains a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
  12. Fosters a cooperative, productive, and team-oriented atmosphere.
  13. Follows and adheres to the lockout/tagout program.
  14. Maintains good attendance, flexibility, and adaptability to changing business needs.
  15. Meets minimum physical and mental demands with or without reasonable accommodation.
  16. Complies with all company policies and procedures.
  17. Trains others on knowledge and skills mastered.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

General Duties / Responsibilities / Mental Demands

Operate Equipment:
Operate basic finishing and molding equipment such as drill press, sonic welder/inserter, pad printer, silk screen, glue machine, injection molding machines, hot stamp, CNC, hot knife, router, sander, grinder, labeler, taper machines, and test computers, as required by customer needs.

Administrative:
Follow departmental and ISO procedures; complete and maintain forms, reports, logs, and charts accurately.

Quality:
Ensure paperwork accuracy; follow work instructions; recognize and address product defects; use measuring devices; troubleshoot to prevent defects; assist in root cause identification.

Productivity:
Meet established performance standards; participate in problem-solving and cost reduction efforts; follow preventative maintenance schedules; ensure equipment runs efficiently and on schedule; relieve operators as needed; manage multiple tasks; participate in cost-saving initiatives.

Health & Safety:
Follow all safety rules, guidelines, and training; maintain clean work areas; wear required PPE; recognize and report hazards; participate in safety programs; report all incidents immediately; practice safe work habits.

Teamwork & Flexibility:
Be available for overtime; interact professionally with co-workers; contribute to a positive work environment; adapt to changing demands; support co-workers and company initiatives; rotate between jobs/departments; train others as needed.

Set-Up:
Assist in workstation and equipment setup; ensure tools and equipment are operating properly; seek efficient and effective setup methods.

Other:
Report employee issues to supervisors/managers; participate in decision-making by gathering and presenting facts; perform other related duties as requested.

Pre-Requisites / Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous molding or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Certificate from a college or technical school desired.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to identify and correct equipment problems efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Requisites for Achieving and Maintaining Pay Levels 25–28

  • Has achieved progressive merit increases up to Level 24.
  • Served a minimum of two years as a Molding Technician.
  • Meets goals and achieves “Above” in the majority of performance standards with no “Below” ratings.
  • Not currently in constructive action.
  • Attends at least one all-day seminar or workshop every two years (with supervisor approval).
  • Willingness to transfer or backfill other positions/departments as needed.
  • Consistently meets and coaches others to meet job duties and responsibilities.
