As an Operations & Fleet Supervisor, you’ll play a key leadership role in keeping our distribution center running safely, efficiently, and reliably. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead across multiple areas of the operation—including warehouse activities, fleet readiness, delivery coordination, facility maintenance, equipment, safety, compliance, employee development, and customer service.

You’ll work closely with Operations, Sales, Human Resources, drivers, warehouse associates, vendors, and other internal teams to solve problems, improve processes, develop employees, and keep the operation moving. What you’ll do

  • Lead daily distribution center operations by supporting safe, efficient, accurate, and timely warehouse and delivery activities.
  • Own the fleet preventive maintenance process, including scheduling maintenance, coordinating vendors, maintaining service documentation, following up on inspections, and escalating overdue or safety-sensitive issues.
  • Maintain vehicle inspection and maintenance records in accordance with company expectations and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support delivery operations by coordinating driver communication, route readiness, delivery issue resolution, and follow-up on customer and internal service concerns.
  • Partner with qualified CDL personnel, Operations, and Human Resources on driver onboarding, training coordination, route familiarization, and driver performance follow-up when CDL-specific judgment or testing is required.
  • Support DOT compliance and delivery safety by helping ensure delivery operations align with applicable requirements and company safety expectations.
  • Administer branch fleet support programs, including fuel program monitoring, vendor coordination, vehicle registration support, and DOT file coordination.
  • Develop and maintain the powered industrial truck preventive maintenance program for forklifts, reach trucks, batteries, chargers, and related warehouse equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs, inspections, vendor service appointments, and documentation to minimize downtime and maintain safe operating conditions.
  • Monitor equipment utilization and recurring repair issues and recommend cost-effective repairs, improvements, or replacement needs.
  • Ensure associates operate powered industrial trucks only after completing required company training and certification.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance and improvement projects, including repairs, inspections, vendor communication, work-order tracking, scheduling, and follow-up.
  • Partner with leadership on facility improvements that enhance safety, workflow, space utilization, housekeeping, customer-facing standards, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Identify facility risks and recurring maintenance issues and help prioritize corrective actions.
  • Oversee yard and trailer organization, helping maintain an orderly, safe, and efficient distribution environment.
  • Coordinate waste and recycling programs, snow removal, weather-response planning, and facility supply administration, including uniforms, PPE, and operating supplies.
  • Coordinate building security system oversight, including access control, alarms, cameras, vendor follow-up, and escalation of security concerns.
  • Promote a safety-first culture through daily leadership, hazard identification, PPE enforcement, housekeeping expectations, and timely correction of unsafe conditions.
  • Support OSHA, hazmat, DOT, equipment, and company safety compliance within the scope of the position.
  • Assist with safety inspections and incident follow-up, including root-cause review, corrective action implementation, and required documentation.
  • Support emergency preparedness and disaster recovery planning, including severe-weather response, emergency communication, and business-continuity coordination.
  • Ensure environmental health and safety standards are consistently followed across warehouse, fleet, equipment, and facility activities.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, coaching, and developing warehouse associates and drivers in partnership with Operations leadership and Human Resources.
  • Set clear expectations for performance, attendance, safety, customer service, productivity, and accountability.
  • Provide timely feedback and recognize strong performance, while addressing employee concerns promptly and partnering with Human Resources when corrective action may be necessary.
  • Build a positive and respectful work environment that encourages professional growth, teamwork, communication, and accountability.
  • Serve as a liaison between Operations and other company departments to support customer satisfaction and effective problem resolution.
  • Respond to escalated internal and external customer concerns, helping determine root causes and supporting appropriate corrective measures.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors to resolve maintenance, equipment, facility, fleet, and operational issues in a timely manner.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, safety, space utilization, and customer service.
  • Use company systems, reports, and operational data to monitor trends, identify performance gaps, and support corrective action plans.
  • Support budget awareness and cost control by tracking vendor spending and identifying opportunities for operational savings without compromising safety or quality.

Important CDL limitation: This role may oversee delivery performance, fleet readiness, DOT-related administrative compliance, and driver coordination. However, unless the associate currently holds the required CDL and is formally authorized by the company, the associate may not perform CDL driving duties, conduct CDL road tests independently, operate commercial motor vehicles requiring a CDL, or take on any task that legally requires a CDL-qualified individual. Driver evaluations, route tests, or CDL-specific activities must be coordinated with a properly qualified and authorized CDL holder.

Education & Experience

  • 3+ years of operations, warehouse, distribution, fleet, facility, or operations leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to lead, coach, motivate, and hold teams accountable in a fast-paced distribution or operations environment.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse and distribution operations, including loading practices, inventory flow, customer service expectations, and safety procedures.
  • Experience coordinating preventive maintenance and operational follow-through for fleet, powered industrial trucks, warehouse equipment, or facility needs.
  • Forklift certification, or the ability to successfully complete company-provided training and required certification before operating powered industrial trucks.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed primarily in a warehouse and distribution center environment with exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, lighting, vehicle traffic, and moving equipment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, gripping, and handling of materials, tools, equipment, or paperwork throughout the workday.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs, with occasionally heavier physical demands depending on operational needs and safe work practices.
  • Ability to safely navigate and work around powered industrial trucks, vehicles, warehouse equipment, fleet equipment, and active distribution operations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, or urgent operational needs.
  • Powered industrial truck operation is permitted only after completion of company-provided training and required certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Operations, Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with fleet management or DOT compliance support.
  • Experience coordinating preventive maintenance programs for vehicles, forklifts, warehouse equipment, or facilities.
  • Experience with ERP, warehouse management, routing, voice-picking, or similar operational systems.
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
  • CDL license, only if the business intends for the role to perform CDL-required functions; otherwise, a CDL remains a preferred qualification rather than a requirement.

  • Primarily based in a warehouse and distribution center environment where hands-on leadership and visibility are important to daily operations.
