We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full-Time, Medical Assistant at Coastal Gastroenterology Associates in Brick, NJ

About the Role:

The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and administrative tasks within a medical facility. This position involves direct patient interaction, including preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and assisting with medical procedures such as phlebotomy and specimen collection. The Medical Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean and sterile environment by properly sterilizing medical instruments and managing specimen processing. Additionally, this role requires effective communication skills to answer phones, schedule appointments, and coordinate with nurse practitioners and other healthcare staff. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to delivering high-quality patient care and enhancing the overall efficiency of the healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
  • Assist healthcare providers, including nurse practitioners, during medical procedures and examinations.
  • Perform phlebotomy and draw blood samples following proper protocols and safety standards.
  • Process and label specimens accurately for laboratory testing and ensure timely delivery.
  • Sterilize medical instruments and maintain cleanliness of examination rooms to comply with health regulations.
  • Manage patient communications by answering phones, scheduling appointments, and providing information as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Support administrative tasks such as billing, coding, and inventory management as required.

The required skills such as Medical Assisting, phlebotomy, and specimen processing are essential for performing clinical duties accurately and safely, ensuring patient comfort and compliance with health standards. Proficiency with medical instruments and sterilization techniques helps maintain a hygienic environment, reducing the risk of infection. Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a healthcare or clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of medical instruments and sterilization procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Additional certifications such as CPR or First Aid.
