We are seeking a reliable and motivated Metal Fabricator/Painter to safely and efficiently fabricate, assemble, prepare, and paint components and equipment according to engineering specifications, work instructions, and quality standards. This position supports production by producing high-quality finished products while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Schedule: Day Shift, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM, with overtime as required
Pay Rate: $21 -$26/HR
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate and form sheet metal using press brakes, CNC laser cutters, shears, drill presses, band saws, water jets, and other shop equipment.
- Read and interpret assembly blueprints, drawings, work orders, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Set up and operate CNC and robotic fabrication equipment.
- Fit, assemble, tack-weld, and mechanically fasten sheet metal components.
- Perform MIG, TIG, and spot welding as required.
- Grind, sand, polish, and finish welds and surfaces according to specifications.
- Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, height gauges, and tape measures to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Prepare surfaces for painting through cleaning, masking, sanding, and blasting.
- Mix and apply primers, coatings, and topcoats using spray equipment, brushes, rollers, and spray paint cans.
- Inspect fabricated and painted components for quality and perform rework or touch-ups as needed.
- Maintain accurate work orders, travelers, and inspection documentation.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized while following 5S and Lean Manufacturing practices.
- Follow all company, quality, and HSE policies and procedures, including Stop Work Authority.
- Support production schedules, continuous improvement initiatives, and a zero-incident safety culture.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1 year of fabrication experience; 2+ years of manufacturing and/or fabrication experience preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience using measuring tools.
- Experience with industrial painting and surface preparation, including sprayers, brushes, rollers, and spray paint cans.
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication, mechanical assembly, and surface preparation.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly blueprints, drawings, tolerances, and material specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform assembly work.
- Automotive industry experience may be considered.
- Strong math and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including prolonged standing, bending, and regularly lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
- Strong motivation and ability to complete work accurately and efficiently.
- Must be a team player who values teamwork and collaboration.
- Stable work history preferred; candidates with frequent short-term job changes are not preferred.
- Must be able to meet applicable pre-employment requirements.
