At Physicians' Clinic of Iowa, we are focused on delivering quality patient care. Our Hematology and Oncology Department is currently seeking a full time Float Certified Medical Assistant or RN to deliver care that is second to none in our high volume-fast paced practice.

Primary duties for this position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Monitor and evaluate patients, including vitals, assessments, and nurse visits.
  • Completing necessary forms for patients, such as FMLA.
  • Triage patient calls by collecting medical history and symptom details; document and relay information in EHR, ensuring follow-up within 24 hours.
  • Administer medications and injections; assist with bone marrow procedures.
  • Educate patients and monitor for changes in condition or treatment response.
  • Follow treatment protocols and assist with managing side effects.
  • Perform daily chart reviews and notify patients of lab, scan, or test results.
  • Coordinate referrals and track lab/pathology reports.
  • Support providers by managing hospital admissions, transfusions, biopsies, labs, and imaging.
  • Transport patients between exam rooms and chemo sub wait areas.
  • Cross-train to act as a scribe as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Medical certification/license is required.
  • CPR certification is required or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong Commitment to patient care and teamwork.
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Proficiency (or ability to become proficient) in EMR and related computer systems.
  • Strong Commitment to patient care and teamwork.
  • Excellent communication skills, professionalism, reliability, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
