POSITION SUMMARY

 

Looking for something part-time? Currently in college? We have a position for you! Flexible schedule that allows you to pick up a couple of shifts each pay period. 

 

The Transporter safely moves patients to and from hospital areas and the Imaging Services Department in a wheelchair or on a stretcher cart for various imaging examinations and procedures while providing compassionate and attentive patient care.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The associate is aware of hospital and department compliance for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department or hospital administrative staff.
  • Purposefully conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the hospital’s commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity.
  • Successfully completes hospital-wide orientation, annual hospital competencies and department/unit specific competencies.
  • For the safety of our patients and co-workers, St. Luke’s Hospital requires seasonal and job related vaccinations. This is reviewed regularly during periodic health assessments.
  • Safely transports patients to and from hospital areas and departments utilizing proper equipment (wheelchair or cart) appropriate to the patient’s condition and lifting techniques.
  • Promptly transports patient to destination and notifies patient arrival to designated individual.
  • Perform patient transfers with approved transfer mobility equipment when appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Understand requirements for student supervision as outlined in the Student Supervision policy.
  • Support the School of Radiology educational process.
  • Maintain current knowledge of School of Radiology policies, procedures and student progress.
  • Communicate with School of Radiology faculty on student-related progress and issues.
  • Maintains cleanliness of equipment and workspace and reports equipment malfunctions in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Education

  • Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Previous patient care experience is preferred.
