First MainStreet Insurance (FMSI), a TrueNorth entity, is seeking a Regional Director for our Northeast Iowa region. The primary responsibility of the Regional Director is to implement operational & growth initiatives as well as manage the territory of agency operations & growth teams. They will manage the day-to-day operations of the designated personnel to ensure exceptional client experience, encourage a collaborative environment, and serve as a resource for their agency locations.

Essential Job Functions:

Assist with development and implementation of operational & growth strategies and initiatives 

Assist in developing a “best in class” client service platform, including training and educating team members to effectively implement the platform consistently

Assist with evaluation of workflows and processes to improve efficiencies, drive new business and support client experience

Manage service & growth personnel activities to ensure timely completion of tasks in line with FMSI agency standards, workflows, and client experience expectations

Oversee and assist personnel within assigned agency locations with training and learning new skills, including onboarding new hires

Maintain producer accountability so 80% of the producer team in the region achieve their annual new business goals. Also work with sales leaders to ensure they are properly mentoring and supporting production team.

Support producer recruiting, select qualified candidates, ensure they are mentored and developed in a way to achieve optimal performance.

Work on distribution of workload and maintaining best practices to achieve key performance indicators for assigned agency locations

Assist with succession planning for personnel at assigned agency locations

Assist with managing schedules in the office to ensure office is open during standard business hours, and we have appropriate coverage

Work with agency team members and/or local leaders on distribution of agency autonomy responsibilities including marketing, facilities, etc. 

Approve PTO and time away for designated personnel

Regularly communicate with each team member, promoting and encouraging a positive team atmosphere; address team issues promptly, maintain a file of documentation for each employee, give appropriate feedback, counseling and conduct monthly 1:1 meetings

Regularly visit agency locations within region to create connection and promote a collaborative team environment 

Support regular team huddles within region for agency locations 

Manage performance of assigned team members including creating development plans and performance improvement plans 

Assist with leading Quarterly Team Huddles and participate in other meetings as scheduled

Assist with integration of new M&A agencies, including on-boarding, training and stabilization of agencies

Leverage and develop leaders within agency region to assist with management of agency locations 

Leverage systems and technology to improve processes, client experience, drive growth and achieve maximum efficiency

Seek and develop opportunities to increase knowledge of insurance industry trends and market conditions 

Be available to travel (25%) when necessary to train, reinforce workflows and initiatives and resolve interpersonal issues to achieve positive client experiences 

Maintain confidentiality of client and company information 

Perform other duties, as assigned, appropriate to the position 



Credentials:

College degree in business, finance or related field is preferred

Minimum 3 years’ work experience in benefits, property and casualty, and/or insurance operations or growth 

Minimum of 4 years of prior management experience preferred 

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and basic PowerPoint functions

Appropriate licenses as required 


The primary language of First MainStreet is English. Excellent communication skills are defined as the ability to actively listen for total comprehension, ask questions that enhance the understanding of a certain topic, and relay information and/or instruction in a descriptive and understandable fashion in both written and verbal forms. Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be necessary from time to time. Must be able to sit for long periods of time, view a computer monitor, and type (up to 8 hours a day). Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
