POSITION SUMMARY
Prepares financial reports to track the Company’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities using advanced spreadsheets, creating journal entries and reconciliation with accurate input of data into various accounting and computer operating systems.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  
The following statements are intended as an overview of key responsibilities of the work for this position and are not all inclusive: 

  1. Provides next-level guest service to internal and external guests. Demonstrates the Cedar Crossing culture in all interactions with guests and co-workers.
  1. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information in accordance with established procedures with company policy and state regulations. 
  1. Adheres to all Internal Control Policies and Procedures, Bank Secrecy Act, Title 31Rulesand Regulations, and ensures Company accounting procedures and reporting conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 
  1. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information in accordance with established procedures with company policy and state regulations.
  1. Analyzes and evaluates accounting and operational information and ensures that items are properly coded and posted in a timely and accurate manner; summarizes, reconciles, adjusts, and/or reclassifies information as needed.
  1. Assists with daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements pertaining to company policies and GAAP.
  1. Monitors and reviews accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness, maintaining general ledger through information gathering.
  1. Reconciles primary and subsidiary banking accounts.
  1. Develops original estimates and valuations of accounting information when not provided.
  1. Reviews or prepares journal entries for input to the General Ledger and to accounting sub-systems.
  1. Oversees the preparation of financial statements and management of operating reports.
  1. Notifies Controller of any potential discrepancies or delays as well as researching and resolving problems.
  1. Provides outside auditors with assistance by gathering necessary account information and documents to perform audits and reconciliations.
  1. Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies, preparing and processing related reports.
  1. Resolves problems that are within the position's scope of authority and recommends courses of action to resolve problems that are beyond the scope of authority to the position’s supervisor.
  1. Keeps position supervisor informed of relevant activities.
  1. Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required; or an associate’s degree in a related field combined with relevant accounting or finance experience. Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other business systems required; advanced Excel skills required. Must possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively formulate and communicate ideas.


SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Must have ability to: 

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of Team Members, guests and outside contacts.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced general math skills required.

REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES 
In addition to the other duties described herein, every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:

  • Attend required training sessions offered by the casino. 
  • Obtain and maintain required license(s).
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the team member’s department. 
  • Have knowledge of property programs to address problem gambling.
  • Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with gaming regulations and Internal Controls.
  • Take theappropriate stepsto investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to theappropriate levelsof management.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Must have ability to: 

  • Move around all work areas effectively and efficiently. May include exposure to areas where there are flashing lights, loud noise, and second-hand smoke.
  • Work long hours, including nights,weekendsand holidays.
  • Sit or stand for extended amounts of time.
  • Use standard office equipment such ascomputerkeyboard, mouse, and monitor, copy machines, and standard desk equipment.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: 

Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission License (must secure and maintain licensure as a condition of employment)
